Networking and Impact Programs

Each semester, networking events and programs are determined based upon requests from employers/organizations, students, and faculty/staff who are interested in co-planning/hosting a program. If interested in partnering to coordinate an event, please contact Shawna Hembree at or 865-975-5435.

Impact Speakers, Panels, and Networking Nights

We encourage professionals working in an impact field to volunteer to speak, participate on a panel, or host a networking event for your field or organization. Events are structured to allow for discussion of the presenter or panelist’s organization, role, and career path along with a chance to respond to student questions and promote any intern, volunteer, or employment opportunities.

Topics include:

  • Corporate Impact Careers
  • Environmental Sustainability Careers
  • Clean Energy and Technology Careers
  • Nonprofit Management and Community Development Careers
  • Social Entrepreneurship Careers
  • Civic Engagement and Public Policy Careers
  • International Development Careers

Impact Leadership Development Programs

Following the successful model of professional Leadership Development Programs offered by Career Services, The Center for Impact Careers offers opportunities for organizations to host Leadership Development Programs in the impact career areas. The program is a cohort –style, non-credit bearing class with approximately four meetings over the course of a semester focusing on the leadership philosophies of the mission-driven organization. The sessions are presented by executives in leadership roles in the sponsoring organization. Approximately 20 students are selected by an application and committee process coordinated by the sponsoring organization and the Center for Impact Careers. Small stipends and a certificate are presented to students completing all sessions in the program. To inquire about hosting an Impact Leadership Development Program please contact
